Another of the Spring flowers popping up on my daily dog walks, decorating the verges in swathes of pure white and brightening the woodland, is greater stitchwort. Also reminiscent of stars, for many years I’ve been mistaking this cheerful soul for the slightly less abundant wood anemone which was the subject of last week’s Wednesday post. But after some research I have now been put right on the matter as this fresh delight, which often accompanies the bluebells, has a very different structure and is a member of the carnation family.
