The Merwif
A new Ollie story
Hi Lovely. I’ve been attending a wonderful series of online workshops on Folklore and Women. It’s run by Seed Talks and delivered by Professor Diane Perkis. I’ve never understood the attraction of mermaids, despite being a big fan of the sea. But I learnt last weekend that before there were pretty young fish-female hybrids falling in love with human males, there was the Merwif, or sea witch. Now the idea of a warrior female living in the depths of the sea relying on her brains and battle strength is a character I can enjoy. And she inspired this Ollie story.
